CHAMPAIGN - Steve M. Komanetsky, 70, of Champaign died at home Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at 11:45 a.m.He was born May 7, 1954, in Brookings, S.D., to Michael Komanetsky and Helen Mickalites Komanetsky. He attended school in Brookings, S.D., Gilbert, Iowa, graduated from Urbana High School in 1972 and graduated with an associate degree from Southern Illinois University. He retired in 2016 after being employed at Kraft Foods in Champaign for 40 years.He is survived by his sister, Ruth Komanetsky Welch of Castleton, Va.; nephews and nieces, Charles Welch, David Welch and Gwendolyn Laci of Virginia and Michael Welch of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and significant other, Cheri Quimby of Mahomet. He is also survived by 13 grandnieces and grandnephews.Steve was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Kravanya Funeral Home, Benld, from 9 to 10 a.m. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Benld Cemetery, Benld.Memorials are
