Obituary of Edward Ray
Edward E. Ray, 59 of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at his residence in Carlinville, IL.
Ed was born on September 22, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, IA, a son of Edward Eugene and Carolyn (Henecke) Ray. Ed graduated from Southeast High School, in Springfield, IL with the class of 1982.
Ed was a metal iron worker for Ironworkers Local 46 in Springfield, IL. He worked there for 34 years, retiring in 2021. He was also an instructor for Structural Metal works for 26 years.
Ed loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Iron Sleds Motorcycle Club in Nilwood, IL, for 24 years.
He was also a member of the Lake Press Club in Springfield. Ed enjoyed being outdoors and was often found boating, hunting, fishing or hiking. Most of all Ed loved being with his family.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elizabeth Mellinger, uncle, Henry Hardman, nephew, Craig Nabb, and niece, Grace Ray.
